Beaver Scout activities are a combination having fun and learning. The Beavers learn about themselves, they get to know people from their local community.

They find out about life in other countries through organised activities. They care by helping those around them and learn how to look after themselves.

It is believed by participating in a balanced programme that Beavers experience Scouting. This programme provides opportunities for growth and development in their personal development.
Our Beavers at the 8th Eastleigh/1st Fair Oak will, over the course of two years, have the opportunity to gain most of the Challenge Badges as we create our programme from these activities.  We also endeavour to cover many of the activity badges as well.  However, some of them require some extra work to be completed at home.

Badges you might like to help your child with include: Animal Friend, Hobbies and Explore.  Please look carefully at the badge requirements and if you have any questions please ask your section leader.

                            How do I join Beavers?

Beaver Scouts are girls and boys aged between six and eight years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family.

Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. A waiting list is operated and places are allocated accordingly, parents should enrol their children early to avoid disappointment – contact our friendly Group Scout Leader on 0845 644 5258.

                            Investiture
An investiture ceremony is held for each new Beaver joining the colony, this normally takes place around the 4th meeting of attendance.

This is the time when the Beavers group into their lodges and line up to form both sides of a riverbank.

The beaver leader will say:    Who are we and what do we do?

                            Beavers reply:         Beavers, Beavers, Beavers
